Brag about your Husqvarna

Why Brag about your Husqvarna ? - They are Durable and Dependable Motocross Bikes.

Husqvarna started manufacturing motorcycles in 1903 and developed a twin cylinder engine seventeen years later. After that, they never looked back. When motocross became a popular sport, Husqvarna motocross bikes were there, dominating the competition in both the 1960s and the 1970s.

Husqvarna brought about acceptance of the two-stroke engine for motocross during the 1960s. In the United States, the heavy and cumbersome BSA, Triumph and Harley-Davidson bikes served as motocross bikes. Those made in Europe were lighter, more durable and easier to handle.

Durable and Dependable Husqvarna Motocross Bikes Edison Dye was on a motorcycle tour of Europe and noted the alloy engine components that set Husqvarna apart from other MX bikes. At his request, rider Malcolm Smith rode and reviewed the Husky with positive accolades.

Dye signed on to import them to the States. Smith starred with Steve McQueen in “On Any Sunday” which featured the 1970 Husqvarna eight-speed 250cc and led to their popularity in the states. During the 60s and 70s, Husqvarna riders won fourteen motocross world championships in three separate divisions, 125cc, 250cc and 500cc.

On top of those honors, the Huskies also took twenty-four world championships for Enduro. The “Flyin’ Finn” Heikki Mikkola showed the manner MX is best in the 70s and received his 1974 World Grand Prix 500cc championship with a Husqvarna.

Not a bad Brag about your Husqvarna fact.

The motorcycle division sold to Cagiva, an Italian motorcycle group, in 1987, with the bikes built in Varese, Italy. BMW Group acquired the Husqvarna Motorcycle business in 2007, with all parts of the business, including Super Moto, Enduro, Street, Dual Purpose and Motocross, handled in Varese. Reintroducing the four-stroke engine in the 90s, Husqvarna motocross bikes are popular in cross-country and Minicross racing, as well.

MX riders are more familiar with the CR125, TC 250 and the TC449. The CR125 MX bike is a great upgrade for those who want to step up their motocross skill and ride. With the two-stroke engine delivering the power needed for competition, the company used their engineering skill to revamp nearly every other feature of the bike for 2009.

The frame protectors, radiator guard and front mudguard protect the rider and the bike. The fuel tank moved, a new carburetor appeared and the seat design and shape adjusted for rider comfort. The swing arm is now an aluminum tubular piece. You can Brag about your Husqvarna from a technical standpoint too, as these bikes are so well built.

The Husky TC449 had some changes in 2011, a few of which upgraded for 2012, such as the placement of the tank under the seat to balance the center of gravity. The airbox is higher in the frame, allowing a draw of clean, fresh air. The MX 4 valve dual camshaft engine delivers more power than that of the Enduro bike and features a different compression ratio. The exhaust system and five-speed transmission also differ from that of Enduro, to deliver the power as needed for each situation.

CTS or coaxial traction system is the idea of designing Husqvarna motocross bikes so the center of gravity is concentrated on the frame to deliver the ultimate in competitive racing. The variation in chain length that previously occurred during rear suspension movement interfered with bike handling.

Now eliminated, the chain has no change in length. Electronic fuel injection and electric start, which saves time when trying to restart the engine, make 2012 a great year to consider a Husqvarna.
